SIR RALPH ABERCROMBY (1734 - 1801)
Born at Menstrie on 7th October 1734 Ralph Abercromby was the eldest son of George Abercromby of Tullibody and his wife Mary. He was educated at Alloa and Rugby then went on to study law at Edinburgh and Leipzig Universitie.

ROBERT DICK (1811 - 1866)
Robert Dick, the renowned geologist and botanist was born at 24 Main Street,Tullibody in January 1811. His father, Thomas Dick was an Officer of Excise at Cambus Brewery. His mother Mary, a delicate woman, died shortly after giving birth to her fourth child. Robert, with his sisters and brother, attended the Barony School in Tullibody.

WILLIAM BURNS PATERSON
1850 – 1915
William Paterson (who later became Dr William Burns Paterson) is
credited with founding the first University for African-Americans in
Alabama USA. He was born in School Wynd, Tullibody on 9th February
1850. His father was a gardener employed by the Abercromby family at
Tullibody House.
